2. my first imax movie (warning, possible spoilers)
imax RAWKS!

i did think it was a treat for the sense and while i'm actuall not a depp fan and would have guessed him miscast, i do think he did a great job in helping to deliver a burton vision of wonka and his factory.

however i did think some of the 'self-aware / hey look i'm making a movie' kind of humor got annoying to the extent that it started to take away from the story-telling.

i was told that this was closer to the book but it is NOT. they left out a few things that were in the first movie. it's been eons since i read the book, but i certainly don't remember anything about wonka and HIS father.

also, i think the way charlie 'won' was far better in the original. this time -- especially with the jokes about the oompa-loompa lyrics, it makes it seem that wonka knew all along that charlie would win -- BECAUSE HE SAW THE ORIGINAL MOVIE. very annoying.

nevertheless, a treat for the senses, and i recommend it, find an IMAX theater, it's worth the drive.
