I got the last copy of Kitty Kelley's new book at Costco today!

I just happened to go to one of the 2 Costco stores I shop semi-regularly.

One of the first things I usually do is check out new DVD's and books. So I was checking out books...when my cart knocked over a big stack of Bill Clinton's audio book, "My Life". They were scattered on the floor. I said, "uh oh, what have I done to poor Bill?" A man nearby asked, "Are you a Republican?" I replied, "No!" LOL! And, I carefully put all of them neatly on the table.

Anyway, we got to talking...and, I said I was really looking for Kitty Kelley's new book "The Family". I asked if he had seen it. He said, "No, but, my wife wants to read it...she's a Democrat and I'm not."

Well, I continued looking for the book. And, suddenly I found it! There was a short stack of 4 wedged between towers of other books. I suspected they had been moved and put there by some repuke.

I announced my find to the man I had been talking to earlier. I handed him a copy and I said, "Gee, why not get this for your wife?" He said he'd think about it...and, he finally admitted that he was neither a Democrat or a Republican. But, he started reading!

Anyway, I put two copies in my cart and headed off in another direction. I came back a short while later...and there was only 1 copy of Kitty's left. That guy must have bought his wife a copy!

I found the audio books nearby. And, I ultimately decided to buy only one of each. So I took two of the remaining books and placed them upright on top of Bill's books...facing different directions on the endcap. And, I wanted to see just how long it would take for them to sell. Well, it took less than 5 minutes!

One lady came by and picked up one and started thumbing through it while another woman picked up the last remaining copy and put it in her cart.

I was talking to the first lady across the table with a big pile of books. I said, "There's only 1 left, you'd better buy it!" She asked, "Did you see Kitty on The Today Show this morning?" I said, "regrettably, I did not." But, I told her I had heard how well she was doing against Matt Lauer in the last couple of days. She then filled me in on how well Kitty did on NBC this morning. We talked for nearly an hour after that. And, I finally left with my purchases.

On the way out, I stopped by the main counter and told them that they had sold out of the book. I implored them to get more copies in. The lady behind the counter checked inventory status...and, she said, "Well, it doesn't look like any more are on order...when they come in they go fast."

I have made myself a "reminder" to show up on October 5th when "Farenheit 9/11 is released on DVD". I certainly don't want to miss out on that one!

:-)
