He pointed out that it only worked because it was the Brits in charge, not the Nazis.

And Alinsky pointed out, using Gandhiji's own writings, that nonviolent passive resistance was a tactic, not a principled act: they had no firearms, and the people had been made so passive that they couldn't even be whipped into action.

I don't say this to condemn nonviolence, but to point out that it's not an all-purpose remedy.
