I gotta tell this story--Fundie neighbor
Advertisements [?]
My neighbor was bragging yesterday that while on vacation at the beach last month, she complained that the space she rented for a week was not up to snuff (dirty blankets or some shit). She got a refund for her stay in the mail yesterday. The fundie and her husband were trying to decide whether to stick in the bank for a rainy day or go blow it on some frivolity. She said she was worried that God was going to strike her or a member of her family down (no, I'm not fucking kidding!) because she has more money now than she ever had. Yeah, it took everything I had not to roll my eyes or smack her in the back of the head. I just calmly mentioned that she might donate it to the Red Cross or other relief organization. She got this stricken look on her face and said that she surely couldn't do that. Her husband would be angry. Yes, they are both black (So am I--well, I'm a halfrican if that counts as anything, which is why I'm so horrified that they aren't interested in helping brothers and sisters). Yes, they are both upset at the way black folk are being treated in N.O. But not enough to give away MONEY to help. But she'd go to church and pray for them.
