Are we witnessing the snowball effect on shrub's poll numbers?

Every poll I see says shrub's numbers are tanking. My first response to all this is, what took so long? I thought about it, and I'm wondering if many people voted for shrub simply because they thought they should--that their neighbors, family, so forth were voting for him so he must not be all bad. Also, the media held him out to be a lovable, yet strong, leader (I almost gagged when I typed that). Don't change horses in mid stream you know.

However, now that the polls are tanking, do these selfsame people now feel they have permission to dislike him? And is that what feeds the polls to tank ever lower? Since most folks don't research the way DU does, I think this might be the case. The sheeple (though I really don't like that term) now feel they have permission to dislike shrub, that he's not infallible after all; this drives down the polls, which in turn re-enforces a now socially sanctioned feeling of dislike for shrub. Sort of a blood in the water type thing. Then again, I could be full of crap. Won't be the first time!
