21. Jackson wouldn't blend with today's Republican party in the least bit
Because unlike George Bush who pretends to be an economic populist, Andrew Jackson actually was one. He was pro "small government" but this was before the time of big corporations, where government regulation wasn't necessary. On the flip side, Jackson was corrupt as hell and engaged in the whole Tariff crisis for personal reasons. Yea and there is that whole trail of tears thing. I remember in 7th grade US History, our teacher taught us about the Jackson administration but left out everything regarding violence toward the Indians. On the test I wrote an essay about how Jackson was a good man but a bad president. How WRONG I was.
