Phrased differently, the question becomes, why do people hate you. Everyone who criticizes Bush is a "Bush-hater", so their opinions don't matter. It was a question that is set up to make Bush sympathetic, and on top of that, Bush gets to compare himself to Reagan and reaffirm his certainty of purpose. If this is an example of the type of "hard hitting" questions, then the interview was a joke.
