The project is so massive and took so long to complete, it is insane. Tolls, scheduled to be discontinued years ago, instead went up. Road projects all across the state went undone because the Big Dig sucked up all the money. The bribary, scandals and boondoggles have been of mind-numbing proportions, right in scale with the size of the project.

Watch the Discovery Channel special on the Big Dig. One thing I will admit...it is a stunning accomplishment, albeit, one that simply shouldn't have been accomplished. Some things you don't do just because you can. You and your kids and their kids and their kids will be paying for the Big Dig almost as long as Iraq.
