Response from Lieberman regarding Downing Street Memo
Advertisements [?]
He's my senator, so I wrote to him & Dodd. Dodd has yet to respond.
It's a form response, or something written by a staffer, but it's actually better than I thought he'd respond:

>>>
Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns regarding the
"Downing Street Memo." I appreciate the time you took to share your
views with me and I welcome the opportunity to respond.

As you may know, the Times of London published on May 1, 2005, during the British elections, a memorandum concerning an invasion of Iraq by U.S. and British forces. On May 5, 2005, 89 members of the House of Representatives sent a letter to President Bush asking him to answer the claims made in the Downing Street Memo.

As your U.S. Senator, I take very seriously allegations about
intelligence being manipulated to meet a policy objective. Our nation's intelligence must be sound and reflect only the best judgment of our intelligence professionals. I will continue to monitor this situation closely. You can be further assured that as Ranking Minority member on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, which oversees the Department of Homeland Security and as a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, I continue to monitor U.S. military actions in Iraq
and Afghanistan.
