YOu are right. People are angry and frustrated, but do you know which frustrated people made a difference in this debacle?

Brown got a 5.7% bump over McCain, but Coakly took a 44% DROP from your numbers in the Presidential election.

Now admittedly, Coakly had the appeal of a dung beetle, but this was not a referendum on Coakly. It was a referendum on you.


When you said a few months ago that the Public Option "would be nice to have but it isn't an absolute necessity" you threw the Public Option over-board. You cut the ground out from under the Democrats in the Senate and House making it very difficult (to impossible) to get the Public Option dealing (this applies more to the Senate) with Republicans dedicated to killing Health Care Reform. You might have been able to save the Public Option if you had shown you were prepared to fight for it, but you didn't do that.

I have said before in this forum and in communications to the WH and with my Senators and Congressman - that if the Democrats didn't fight for the Public Option you would find many Democratic voters would be disaffected and they would be somewhat apathetic about going to the polls to vote for people who didn't at least fight for real Health Care Reform - that is -- with a Public Option.

And THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. THOSE are the frustrated people who made the difference in Massachusetts - by NOT showing up at the polls. Even if you had not gotten the PUblic Option (although I and most Democrats feel if you had fought for it you could have achieved it) at least Democrats would have seen you tried.

For all the sucking up you did to those totally committed to your failure ... at ANYTHING --- YOU GOT NOTHING. NOT ONE FUCKING COPORATE LOBBYIST VOTE. THAT's WHAT POST-PARTISAN POLITICS GOT YOU ....along with a disaffected Democratic electorate.

Mr. President, we are all aware that you greatly admire Abraham Lincoln. You admire the way he brought people together of diverse political persuasions to achieve a common goal. But, Mr. President, please do not forget, Lincoln fought a war for what was right. When you are faced with an implacable foe - an implacable foe which uses 'the Big Lie' to confuse, to foment fear and loathing solely to keep you and Democrats from achieving practical solutions to problems, you have to realize you are not going to gain their cooperation making an appeal based on the "common good". These people don't give a damn about the "common good". You can't join hands in mutual endeavor with someone who's holding a bomb in his.

Fight for what's right Mr. President. Even if you should lose the present battle, you fought the good fight and in the long run you will win.
