yahoo chat all the time. We had a huge chatroom and we made lots of friends there. But then yahoo decided that private chat rooms were a bad thing and made everyone get in the public ones. So within 3 days there were nothing but bots in there and our online group broke up. I'm still friends with one of the people I spoke with there. Married and had 2 kids with another one of them. But other than that, I don't have much contact with anyone else from that group.
