The points are 1) to get them off the streets and out
of view as quickly as possible and 2) be a pain-in-the-
ass to the protesters in the hopes of discouraging them
and discouraging future protesters.

This is Standard Operating Procedure when the government
is facing protests.

This would stop if enough people sued the police for
false arrest, but that's unlikely to happen.
