You can't argue this is an 'abnormally', a dark exception to human nature. The Colosseum operated for nearly four hundred years, the biggest building in Rome, packed out week after week. It's abhorrent, and advocates have to find an excuse, a tradition, a religion, or economic necessity to cloak their joy, a sadistic, carnivorous darkness in the human soul, which we deny to a peril.
