I have personally witnessed as one of the largest manufacturing companies in America laid off thousands of American IT workers and replaced them with a larger number of far less experienced but much cheaper workers from India. The layoffs were done with the excuse that they didn't need that many employees because of a downturn in business but they went and hired a larger numbers of people from India to replace them.
