this race matters more. House Reps vote on national legislation. I'm hoping Owens pulls it off. It would also make the Palin/Teabag crowd look even more stupid than they are.

VA and NJ were largely local and the candidates Dems ran weren't that great. People forget that in '01, Bush was still riding high on post 9/11 "patriotism". Dems won the VA governorship and some were saying it was an indication of the "emerging Democratic majority". A year later, they faced humiliating defeats all over.

I don't see how any of this makes a difference going into next year. Hopefully the House and Senate Dems will focus on actually getting more done now, because that's what will matter next year.
