Believe me, I'm not saying Syria is going to try invading Israel. All I'm suggesting is that if there is going to be an invasion of Iran, Syria suddenly becomes Israel's number one security threat, and they are certain to treat that threat seriously--even if you and I don't.

In the 1973 war, the Israelis were surprised and dismayed to discover how effective Syria's small, cheap and very numerous anti-aircraft missiles were, which was enough to deny the Israelis air supremacy for the first couple of days. I don't think Syria has a similar trick up its sleeve this time, but I doubt the Israelis forgot that lesson, either.
