The downfall of Empire does indeed occur really quite quickly, doesn't it?

And my question should have perhaps been more rhetorical, but we forget that these forces are simply playing into the psycho-sociological framework of ultra-conservatism and lack of education.

This excessive militarism--way over the top, at this point--combined with these neocon endgames is greatly disconcerting, of course.

However, a society that fuels itself on the dead remains of other civilizations should perhaps deserve its fate.
