NYT/AP: Moyers to Get Lifetime Achievement Award

NEW YORK (AP) -- Bill Moyers will receive a lifetime achievement award from the National Academy of Television Arts & Science at its annual news and documentary Emmy Awards ceremony in September, the academy said Monday.

Moyers, who has received more than 30 Emmys, currently has a seven-part PBS series on faith and reason.

The 72-year-old Moyers was press secretary to President Lyndon Johnson and worked as deputy director of the Peace Corps in the Kennedy administration. He became publisher of Newsday after leaving government, then worked as a network news analyst.

He founded Public Affairs Television with his wife and business partner, Judith Davidson Moyers, in 1986 to make a variety of programs. For three years starting in 2002, he was host of the weekly newsmagazine ''Now with Bill Moyers.''...
