It's nothing to do with political affiliation. It's everything to do with hero worship. In our society, the fall from grace and the repentant (or at least rehabbed) return is a widely understood rite of passage for celebrities.
It would take a lot more than this to topple Limbaugh - something along the lines of a video of him screwing Paris Hilton might do it, though. ;-)
