Cheney was well aware about J.Wilson's role in the US government. Cheney certainly knew Wilson's wife V.Plame was working within the CIA. Nothing illegal about that, even of Cheney was informed by Tenet. Cheney passed this sensitive information on to I.S.Libby. Libby probably passed this info about V.Plame on to more than one person probably with a subtle nod from Cheney. IMHO this was retribution for Wilson's refusal to go along with the yellow cake story, his stance against the war and a futile attempt to discredit Mr. Wilson.
