BTW, I'm neither "rural" nor "southern", unless by "rural" you mean small-town Minnesota.

And yes, there are lots of cultural events around. I've lived overseas (Io sono stata quattro anni a bella Roma; sto lavorando all'Ambiasciata Americana. Auch in Oesterreich fur drei jaren). Gee, I haven't spoken Italian since 1986. I surprise even myself!!
