204. I'm confused by one authors use of the word "socialist":
I'm reading "The Creature from Jekyll Island" by G. Edward Griffin, a truly frightening and depressing look at the creation and acts of the Federal Reserve (which, as he puts it, has nothing to do with the Federal Government and has no reserves). A fascinating read, but he keeps referring to the acts of the Reserve as well as the world bank as being driven by a hidden "Socialist" agenda.

The only aspect of a "Socialist agenda" that I can see is the massive transfer of wealth from well off nations like the USA to third world dictators via ever increasing bailouts of their economies which ultimately are added to the dept burden of the American taxpayer. Also the literally billions (trillions?) of taxpayer dollars that have gone towards bailing out "to big to fail" companies going back well into the 70's and 80's. Nothing new here; as he puts it "the name of the game is bailout", and every time we do it money is created from literally nothing, added to the dept burden of taxpayers and then directly affects us all through inflation caused by this diluting of the money reserves.

Again, the book is a great read but I am really put off by his (seemingly) paranoid views of a worldwide "socialist" agenda that he claims is driving all of this. Anyone know anything about this author? Has he got some kind of crazy bias against socialism, maybe is a rabid Libertarian? Or is what he is referring to the so-called "corporate socialism" that only benefits the wealthy?

Thanks for any info on this...
