132. the economy
The Democrats need to focus on the economy. They should have from the start. The economy is the most important problem. If the Democrats can get traction on this issue, they may be able to hold their own in November. The first seats to be lost are the marginal/swing seats. Those seats are mostly held by blue dogs Democrats. If the Democrats still hold a majority, the caucus should be more progressive after the election.

After the election, and if the Democrats are still in control, the economy needs to be the primary focus. The problem with fixing the economy is that orthodox economics - which is the great majority of economists -- have very little to offer in the way of solutions. The Democrats have to listen more to the heterodox economists. They do have better and more workable solutions.

Times are bad and people are,, very rightly, worried.

If the GOP takes control, we will see 'gridlock on steroids'. Absolutely nothing will get done. It may turn out to be worse than that.
