Harris claims 2 debate foes: Nelson, media

November 01, 2006

Think last week's U.S. Senate debate was boring?

Blame the moderator and the panel of three journalists, Republican candidate Katherine Harris says. Their line of questioning didn't touch on the issues that separate her from Democratic incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson: taxes, immigration and traditional values.

The questions "flagrantly avoided his weaknesses - flagrantly," she said.

"There's a gulf of differences between Bill Nelson and me. I think in a debate such as that those critical issues should have come to the forefront," Harris said. "Everyone said it was such a nice debate or almost a boring debate, and that's because they tried to use issues that would help Nelson, even in asking basic questions."

So who's Harris going to blame on election day, when Nelson creams her?
