Wednesday, 8/17/05 exercise thread. Who got some??
Good morning everyone!

Here are the stats from this, my 4th measured bike ride:

Time (Tm): 44m 03s
Average Speed (AS): 10.1mph
Maximum Speed (MS): 17.3mph
Distance (Ds): 7.44 miles

Exactly one mile more than two days ago, and only 0.3mph slower on average. I'm just about to hit that endorphin threshhold, I think. By the time I can do 10 miles a day I should be there. That's something to look forward to!

So, how did you guys and gals do? :)

1. Got my jog in this morning
2.0 miles outdoors... then did my upperbody thing in the strength equipment room.

I tried to do a push-up this morning... and couldn't do a full one. I was able to do a few from the knees though.

3. well i'm pretty excited, i did my usual treadmill routine but today
i managed two 10 minute sprints without passing out and i was able to cut my treadmill time down by 10 minutes since the sprints upped my calorie burn. Don't get me wrong, i love to exercise but it was pretty cool actually being able to run a little bit, my ultimate fitness goal is to be able to run for at least 30 minutes. I know that probably doesn't seem like a very big goal but it would make me feel really good.

5. 30 minutes of running is...
about 28 more minutes of continuous running than I've ever been able to do in my life. Back in grade school, when we did the 600 yard run on a timer and you were graded either excellent, good, satisfactory or poor, I would come in at over twice the time of the fastest students in my classes, and almost 2 minutes into the "poor" category. I never did a 50-yard dash in under about 9.5 seconds.

So, if you can achieve this goal, you will have accomplished quite a bit in my eyes. Keep up the good work! :D

6. the usual....
20 min on the treadmill warm up at 3.2 miles per hour (up from 2 miles an hour when I was 2 weeks post op and I first started the treadmill again.)

1 circuit (3 sets of 15 at 30-50 lb, depending on machine) of the cybex machines, legs, hips, abs, arms chest. The only one I skip is the chin-up machine; I don't trust my knees yet and it's pretty high up there.

35 min on the recumbent. I'm up to level 3 now.

Basically, we can assume that I do this every day because that's what rehab is all about. (Sigh.) I'm bored with it, but whatcha gonna do? There's no way around it. I have to be doing these exercises.

8. 40 minutes elliptical
pretty good intensity at 65-70 rpms. The little calorie counter said 500 calories, but I'm not sure how accurate those things are. Workout felt great though.

9. Upper body work with the weights and a 1 mile walk
I like going into the gym at the time that I do. There isn't hardly anyone there. It makes it easier to get my workout in.

12. DVD step workout here in Seattle
Here on business and brought a mini step and some DVDs, and I did LowMax this morning. (Internet connection's too slow to post link to vid, but I suspect no one follows them anyway, LOL.) :-)

13. Ten miles on the bike.
The first two, I paced another friend walking her dogs. It's fun to exercise and chat at the same time, though I think I did all the yakking. ;)
