196th House District: Rob McIlvaine: write in candidate to replace
Bev Mackereth. I received this notice today from the Democratic Party of York County. Rob's a great guy.
I first met him during the primaries for Dean's campaign. He was on CNN several times during the Dover
Inteliigent Design controversy/suit by the ACLU. Rob and his wife Judy were two of the people who blew
the old Republican team off of the Dover school board. As a write in candidate, it is critical to
pass his name around, and even to do so in writing just before Nov 4. Here is the info sent to me:

ROB MCILVAINE FOR THE 196TH

Dear Neighbor,

My name is Rob McIlvaine and I’m seeking to fill Representative Beverley Mackereth’s seat in the 196 House District. As a write-in candidate on the Democratic ticket, I confront a huge challenge, but I’m prepared to work hard and do all I can to win come November 4th.

My family and I have lived and worked in York County for 28 years. We have a small farm in Dover Township and our four children went to Dover schools. My wife Judy and I currently serve on the Dover School Board. One of my reasons for entering the race for the 196th, in fact, is to continue the great work Bev Mackereth has begun on behalf of public education, particularly finding ways to fund public education more fairly without overburdening taxpayers. As someone who serves manufacturers across the nine counties of our South Central region, I know how important quality education is to getting and keeping a good job. Our young people must be prepared to handle the technology and demands of today’s high tech world, and education is key to their doing so. They deserve nothing less.

As I drive to work each morning and note the sky high price of gas at the pump, I’m reminded that we face tough times. Everything seems to be getting more expensive while wages remain stagnant, and for some there are no wages. We need to rethink our local economies, to explore how we might attract new industries, new jobs, to look seriously at the alternative energy and high tech sectors and see if they might help fuel smart economic growth without risk to our land and way of life. This could happen, provided we work together. To get involved is to win; to do nothing is to fail.

In the weeks ahead, I hope to have the privilege of meeting you, listening to your concerns and exchanging views and ideas about how we might make the six townships and three boroughs of the 196th even better places to live and work, for ourselves, our children, our future.

Thanks,

Rob
