Kofi Annan will give his last major speech as secretary-general of the United Nations on Monday, but not in New York.

He will deliver it in Independence.

Annan, who will leave office at the end of this month, will speak on “Global Governance and the Role of the United States” at the Truman Museum.

“It is an important speech with a lot of international interest,” said Scott Roley, museum deputy director. Annan chose to deliver the speech in Independence to recognize Truman and the role the 33rd president played in the founding of the United Nations, Roley said.

The 11:30 a.m. speech will be broadcast live by KCUR-FM.

If you are available, counter protesters are needed tomorrow to welcome Mr. Annan. A group of 'US out of UN' protesters will be there and a counter protest is planned. PM me if you need more info or can join the welcoming committee.
