Boissiere 'Sorry' For Salary Advances From New Orleans Court
http://www.theneworleanschannel.com/news/3933202/detail.html

NEW ORLEANS -- Incoming Public Service Commission member Lambert Boissiere III gave himself more than $41,000 in salary advances last year from his job as a New Orleans court official, according to documents he turned over to state Sen. Cleo Fields.

Fields lost a runoff election to Boissiere for the PSC seat on Nov. 2.

Fields said the advances, from a public bank account, amount to illegal payroll fraud.

Boissiere, a constable for New Orleans' city court, apologized for the way the money was handled but said he acted unwittingly on bad advice from an office accountant.

Before the primary, Fields sued to force Boissiere to reveal the information. Boissiere's lawyer released the payroll information Thursday -- two weeks too late for Fields to make campaign hay out of the improper payments.

Boissiere said he had no specific reason for taking his salary in advance. He said he took no more money than he had coming and that the advance was repaid by the time he learned the method was improper.

Boissiere won the election to replace outgoing commission member Irma Muse Dixon on the panel, which regulates utility rates in Louisiana.

Boissiere takes office in January.

1. A follow up to a really old post--is this the former councilmember's kid?
I've been away so long, but I'm trying to get caught up again on who's who. I read these posts and wonder who the hell a lot of these people are.
