What is it about cats and making the bed?
Especially when putting clean sheets on the bed. Every cat I've ever lived with is FASCINATED with making the bed. Either watching, or getting in the middle of it, playing under the sheets, or walking on the things I need next. It's hilarious, of course, but puzzling.

Too bad they don't have opposable thumbs, or I'd ask them to make the damn thing! :D

1. My cat does the exact same thing!
I didn't realize every cat did that.

2. My cat does that, too.
She has to be a cat lump under the sheets and comforter, or she is not happy. Of course, she crawls out and curls up at the end of the bed, in her favorite spot, when the job is finished.

Now she has the dog "helping," too.

3. fascinating consistencies
Hi,
It is strange, it does not matter where my Sophie is at or what she is doing, she always seems to show up and hop on the bed when I get the clean sheets down. She will jump up after I get the first sheet down and then I drape the others over her and she is happy.

Peace

4. Both our cats LOVE it when sheets are changed.
They jump on the plain bed before the first sheet, jump off, wait for the fitted sheet, jump back on, INSIST that the top sheet be draped over them, and then stay there until the whole bed is made. Then I always turn down the cover and the top sheet way way down because I am afraid of them suffocating or something.

They also supervise when I clean the cat box and can hardly contain themselves until they can jump in right away.

One of our cats is a feline alarm clock who jumps on the bed and attacks my feet every morning at EXACTLY the same time - 10 minutes before the alarm goes off. After the foot attack, which usually elicits some screams, he walks up and starts gently tapping my face with his paw. Very sweet. Unfortunately, as smart as he is, he has nevered mastered the concept of "week-end"

6. Oh, that face tap....
First it's just pads, then if I ignore him he gives a little claw action, then a little more, then it's 'okay, okay, I'll get up already.' At least he warns me.

8. Abbott realized the face tap wasn't getting him anywear so....
he started sleeping on the alarm clock. Have you ever tried to hit a snooze button with 17lb of fur on it?

5. This thread is making me smile.
My cat (RIP) used to do all of the above. When I read threads like this, I realize how much I miss her.

7. Be careful what you wish for.
Yeah, it would be great if they could make the beds for us. But, imagine what else they could do with those opposable thumbs. It sends shivers down my spine just thinking about some of it!

BTW, my cats love interfering in my bed-making,too.

9. I think my cat just likes to watch as a sadistic way of rubbing it in that
I am his slave.

Change the litter box, he supervises that too. The bed, he watches but doesn't play in the sheets usually. He usually just looks, then looks at me with that smug "you realize I'm just going to mess that back up, right?" stare.

10. We have 3 but only one 'helps'
but boy does she help. Adds about 30 minutes to a 10 minute job.
But she is so damned cute. She does it all, sheet inspections, pillow case inspections etc.

12. I think they associate bed making with doing something nice for
them or something like that! I make the bed right over them until they leave.

14. Do your cats knead on the pillows/blankets/mattress?
They're probably reverting to kittenhood, when they did that to get to mama cat's milk.

15. Cats are well aware of the time-space fabric, being time travellers and all
And so your bed, when being made, looks like one big fabric of which to pop in and out of wormholes and dark matter chambers

16. You should try making a bed when you have 17 ferrets.
They were much worse than the cats. Cute as heck, though.

17. Nemo loves to jump on the clean bottom sheet

and have the top sheet, blanket and bedspread
over him.

He's the big 'cat lump' and stays there all day,
sleeping no doubt, until dinner time.

:) :hi:

18. I used to love it when mine would get under the clean sheets and try to catch my hand
as I moved around. And sometimes, my hand was under the sheet and they were running around on top.

They don't do it hardly ever anymore because they are so old. :(
