Because I don't like Homeland Security at all. Starting with the revolting foreign translation type name.

But one aspect of Homeland Security and The Patriot Act that is good is the idea of forcing inter-agency coporation. My father was a Customs Special agent for 25 years and he would always tell me about how due to fierce competition between agencies too many things would get screwed up.
Just to note when Kerry speaks of "sustaining certain aspects of the Patriot Act" THIS is what he's talking about, NOT the parts that infringe on our civil liberties.

The Dems originally proposed it, and they wanted Fatherland's employees to have civil service protections.
Of course, you can count on the rethuglicans to oppose ANY form of labor protection.:mad:
