It takes LESS effort to get dozens of excited NEW voters to support Democrats, than it does to try and placate just ONE butthurt malcontent voter (who, if they're willing to make such a threat, probably aren't going to vote for the Democrat anyway.) That's a TOXIC environment that's being created by people with that mindset. People who say such things only contribute to the division and suspicion that weakens the party.
Best to just let them do as they please, and instead use one's energy to motivate first time voters and swing voters to be enthusiastic about the Democratic party, our Democratic candidates, and our Democratic platform. These are the ones who'll be most likely to volunteer, donate, pound-the-pavement, make-phone-calls, and get others interested in Democratic politics as well.
All I'm trying to say is that I simply can't take seriously ANYONE who thinks they can THREATEN to withhold their vote because they're pouting and because they feel personally "insulted" when their preferred candidate is held accountable.
