(42,023 posts)I grew up poor and spent my young adulthood on welfare and food stamps. Lived in housing projects. Worked my way through first part of collage as a single mother. Got married and raised a blended family. Husband gets MS and I am the primary provider.
You know who I dont get? People who havent had adversity to the point I have. Havent shoved needles in their arms, havent done shady shit. Havent committed crimes. Havent been to jail. Havent committed violence or have had violence done to them. Havent had a vocabulary filled with grammatical errors because talking street is easier. Havent struggled with addictions
Havent watched their beloved lose function inch by inch.
But I faked it. I made it.
Most of my peers are dead.
Sometimes I still fake it.
Im the end of boomers, beginning of genX. You dont know me. Dont pretend you do. You can judge me all you want. It means nothing to me, because you are right, I cant relate to you.
I relate to those at the bottom, the ones other pretend dont exist
Bernie is the absolute last person I want, because I learned the really hard lessons of pragmatism and whats real very young.
Hes better than Trump though.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
