(146,351 posts)where I worked for $1.25/hour. I couldn't see how I would move on from that. I ended up joining the USAF, where I started at $96/month with free room and board. I spend four years in the USAF, and when I left, I was getting $256/month.
It took several years before I could complete college on the GI bill, sharing a $96/month run-down house with two other guys. Eventually, though, i made my way, but it took a long, long time, and a lot of hard work.
At 19, though, I had no idea how I'd survive. So, I do understand where you're coming from. There is hope.
You voted for the candidate you prefer. Good for you. That's a privilege living in this country gives you. I won't criticize your vote. You think Bernie offers you the best alternative at this time. OK.
