IMO you need to think in broader strokes than that, to engage many, many more moderate voters and some left-leaning republicans so that we can win this election. Being a purist may work at another time, but this election is far too important to put on blinders with regard to very idealistic principles. I think most of us here would agree with some of Bernies platform, but the larger populous isnt going to be able to look past his own record and self-described Democratic Socialist label.
I would also say that older voters have a far greater record of actually turning out to vote, no matter the candidate, in any election. Younger voters have a sporadic turnout typically.
If you are saying that you are only going to vote for an exciting candidate, you are going to be sadly disappointed in the long run. I take it that you are a young voter? That is great and I applaud your involvement and wanting to rally behind a candidate that you believe in. Not every good candidate has an exciting demeanor or is a contemporary. Those who are older and have been at the game a long time have hopefully developed strong relationships where it counts: either across the aisle or across nations. We desperately need someone who has those accomplishments right now.
I would hope that if Biden does manage to win the nomination, you would be able to vote for him. Im guessing from your implication about an exciting nominee that you are for Bernie? If so, how do you reconcile his age with your comment about younger people being sick of older people?
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
