(25,505 posts)"DU trends way older than the party as a whole" is often used as a vague insult. The site has certainly changed, but there's always been a segment here that believes that anyone to the right of them is a centrist, a moderate, or a conservative. Some don't really do nuance and many don't understand that "moderate" and "moderate Democrat" are two different things on the ideological scale. The moderate Democrats in the race, for example, are still liberals.
At least the Ron Paul supporters have left the building. He was a thing here for a while. I always found it funny that some on the same site where Dennis Kucinich was wildly popular fell for perhaps the most conservative politician in US political history.
It's always been an interesting place and difficult to categorize.
