Democratic Primaries
In reply to the discussion: Why I Work Against Bernie Sanders During the Primaries [View all]The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,596 posts)whether you approve of Sanders' campaign tactics and governing style. This thread is about those things only, not whether one agrees or disagrees with his or any other candidate's substantive policies. So, with respect only to those issues, I'd ask these questions:
1. Have Biden/Warren/Buttigieg/Klobuchar ever hired campaign staff who publicly disparage the Democratic Party?
2. Have Biden/Warren/Buttigieg/Klobuchar ever hired campaign staff who supported Jill Stein in the last election?
3. Have Biden/Warren/Buttigieg/Klobuchar themselves, while campaigning, publicly disparaged the Democratic Party?
4. Have Biden/Warren/Buttigieg/Klobuchar ever indicated they would not cooperate with other Democrats who did not agree with their positions on various issues?
5. Have Biden/Warren/Buttigieg/Klobuchar ever failed or refused to promptly support a Democratic nominee for the presidency?
The basic point of this thread is that some of us don't support Sanders because he and his surrogates are not especially supportive of the party to which he (at least temporarily) claims allegiance. This is extremely important for reasons described elsewhere in this thread, and because presidential candidates' campaigns are essential for the success of down-ballot candidates. If Bernie isn't supporting the party he'll hurt it. If you think this is OK, or if you think other candidates are doing the same thing, please feel free to explain.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
