(6,709 posts)I wondered about that, so I looked at the platform for the Green Party in 2016 Do you know what was in it?
--Enact an Emergency Green New Deal....
--Redirect research funds from fossil fuels to renewable energy and conservation....
--End destructive energy extraction....
--Protect our public lands, water supplies, biological diversity, parks and pollinators....
--Support a strong, enforceable global climate treaty....
--Support organic and regenerative agriculture....
--Protect the rights of future generations....
--Enact stronger environmental justice laws, to ensure low income and communities of color are not disproportionately impacted....
--Invest in clean air, water, food and soil for everyone. Clean up America.
There's more of course, including support for labor, ending poverty, health care as a right, education as a right, a just economy, a just immigration system, criminal justice reforms, peace and human rights.

In short, I didn't agree with all of it but I certainly didn't find it very scary. At all. I found it something to aspire to. Apparently I'm not alone, because many of these issues are now at least being debated in the "mainstream."
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
