Democratic Primaries

(1,736 posts)Sanders won in MI, WI and MN (big), and came close in Iowa. I think Clinton won in Ohio and PA (can't recall), but I believe the margin was very close.
From my perspective in WI, the missing ingredient for the nominee last time was populism - an ability to appeal across political lines, age lines, and class lines with a sensible message, along with a clear sense of what the electorate's concerns are. In my limited observations so far, I think that Buttigieg and Inslee will be best at this, and Kloubuchar, Warren, and perhaps Harris and Sanders are next in this ability. It takes a lot of skill to stay connected to the issues faced by ordinary people outside of the privilege and visibility that a long tenure in office gives you. That's one of several reasons why I'm not supporting Biden in the primaries.
I hope to post and learn as much as possible about issues rather than the horse race in these months before the earnest beginning of the campaign. These predictive analyses are unconvincing, and overreliance on analytics cost us big last time.
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
