Democratic Primaries
In reply to the discussion: Electoral College Map...we need a centrist candidate to win the rustbelt to stop Trump. [View all]Amimnoch
(4,558 posts)I totally get what you mean, but none.. not a single one of our candates are actually centrist. Most have a cherry picked issue or 2, maybe even 3 where they arent as far liberal or progressive as others. A few have supported a bill, or taken a position or 2, or 3 that arent as far liberal or progressive as the others, but none are actually politically centrist when measured as a whole.. NONE of them.
If we get our candidate into the Oval office, AND we give them a Senate and House that will pass liberal or progressive legislation, will any of them refuse to sign said Democratic Party passed legislation? Hell fucking NO, they wont. ALL of our candidates will happily sign any said legislation.
If we get our candidate into the Oval office, AND we fail to give them a Senate and House that will pass liberal or progressive legislation, will any of them fail to VETO Republican legislation that harms the platform of the Democratic Party?? All of our candidates will vehemently Veto any such legislation.
I do 100% absolutely agree that its all about that map. Our economy is still booming overall (Thank you President Obama!), and its hard as hell to unseat a mid-term incumbent president during a booming economy. These purity tests weaken our candidate.. any of our candidates for those critical state runs in a general. In the rust belt, its GOT to be about offering a way that either brings in industries that will alleviate the economical pains in that region, or some alternate solution that will help them. Our candidate also will need to hit very fucking hard against Cheetolinis failed promises to keep industries/factories from shutting down.
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
