(7,432 posts)All of the issues that are characterized as "leftist" or left of center are the issues that most US voters want to see addressed and solved, and MOST US VOTERS agree with the "leftist" positions. The corporate controlled media, however, is artificially separating the proposed leftist policies from the wishes of the electorate and calling those positions as unacceptable when they exactly within the mainstream.
Sanders noted this corruption of ideas many times in the 2016 election cycle, but few listened, mostly because the corporate media, heavily influenced by right wing messaging, saturated the conversation with ominous warnings of a "socialist state", if commonly viewed issues like universal health care were seriously explored. Still, right wing media dominates the messaging, and critical social and economic policies are sidelined and tabled, again and again.
