And remember, when considering corporate rates, those costs are usually passed on to the end user. Trumps tariffs are really just taxes in another word. And we see the results of that; lower revenues & higher prices.
I have no problem with increasing the rates the higher income pays. But we have to be realistic about the outcome. There is a line were people will just say "no". And they'll find a way around it. They always do. And as usual, we're not even considering all the income never taxed; "stated income" payers. Probably a trillion or more in unclaimed income. I know SO many people who do it its amazing.
Which is why a VAT is such a big piece of the puzzle for the countries that have what we want. And what do states, cities and counties do when they need revenue? Put a SPLOST on the ballot. And in my area, they almost always pass. And real revenue gets raised & major projects get funded.
