There were a lot of goddamned blue dogs and DLC jerks giving Veto cover to the GOP. Some of the same people here screaming for party loyalty were giving cover to those same congress-people for screwing over President Obama and the party.
They were the same people shrieking at us about "wanting ponies" during the healthcare debate for wanting single payer.
I wondered if the third way democrats didn't want to carry the GOP for a bit to assure they would have people to triangulate with in order to maintain their power. Because if the GOP had been defeated more completely, then why would we bother with triangulation?
They failed to take the great blue wave of 2006 and President Obama's victory in 2008 as signs that the electorate was biting at the bit for some serious systemic change.
It was intensely frustrating.
