(80,708 posts)I've been a part of this community for 12 years, now, so I'm sure I've heard it all.
also, I already did the "research". That was what the link was for. This woman is a 53 year old medical marijuana patient from Maine, recently moved to florida, no criminal record, never been in trouble with the law, was followed home from a hydroponics store by cops who then searched her house and found pot plants.

This was in 2014, the same year DWS allied herself with Sheldon Adelson's anti-drug org to kill measure 2 in Florida.
This woman is now facing 10 years in prison. 10 years! How the fuck is society served by this? "well, she broke the law"- and one either has to believe that she moved to Florida, not knowing anyone, with the intent to become a marijuana kingpin, OR she moved down south- as people are wont to do- because she's getting older and has health problems (obviously, medical marijuana patient, remember?)..
"People like Bridgit Kirouac who are 50-years-old are the majority of my clients around this state," Minardi says. "We're not talking about kids, we're not talking about drug dealers, we're talking about people who are legitimately using cannabis for medical reasons."

"The reason that I was growing my own medicine was because I didn't know anybody here," she says. "I live my whole life doing everything that I can to avoid any more pain than I already have."
If Debbie Wasserman Schultz had done the right thing in 2014, this woman might not be facing prosecution. And, again, 10 years in prison.
There's your research.
