Sanders devotees love to bloviate about how far Bernie has come since he entered. The DNC was right to view his campaign at that stage as rather meaningless given his standing in the polls. The devotees want it both ways. They want him praised for making a race of it, but they also are upset the DNC didn't take him seriously enough to view him as a threat to the nomination which was obviously a miscalculation on the DNC's part.

Sanders had recently entered the race. The DNC thinking that HRC would be the nominee at that point

No, it doesn't. A) it's to the DNC, not from. B) on the date of the memo, she was the only candidate
