The 19-year-old stallion was given a lethal injection at 11:45 A.M. yesterday at Claiborne Farm in Paris, Ky., the bluegrass nursery where he lived the lush life of a stallion for the last 15 years. Secretariat was suffering from laminitis, a painful and usually incurable degenerative disease of the sensitive inner tissues of the hoofs.
