1. The Catholic church generally acknowledges science, even (gasp!) evolution.

It still holds to some beliefs and rites related to the soul.

Removing holy water from the open fonts has been done before. Bottled holy water is perfectly fine, and some parishes can be creative about it.

Common sense is allowed in the Catholic church, but it may need the bishop's approval.
