Screw Google Goggles. These are the kinds of eyewear more of us should be wearing. ;^) [View all]

Not a new release but the message is ageless.

We're not conditioned to be mindful of what others go through and rarely give others a break when they're having a bad day.

What if we tried to be more human, in that way we're all gifted to be?

Sometimes a message with religious overtones or from religious sources has NOTHING to do with a specific religion and EVERYTHING to do with doing the right thing as a matter of habit.

Happy Sunday, DU!

Charming. Warren Stupidity Mar 2015 #1
"nonsense is a homophobic rightwing christian religious organization" NYC_SKP Mar 2015 #4
When one posts shit from a hate group attacking the fact that you did that seems lame. Warren Stupidity Mar 2015 #7
You see the hate group, I found it on Facebook. NYC_SKP Mar 2015 #8
Well Skip, they put their website at the end of their fucked up video. Warren Stupidity Mar 2015 #10
So, then, you can't find a passage in the clip that is explicitly religious. You admit it. NYC_SKP Mar 2015 #13
"get service" - that would be an explicitly religious phrase. Warren Stupidity Mar 2015 #18
Service is not exclusively religious. I suppose you don't know of Service Clubs: Kiwanis, Lions... NYC_SKP Mar 2015 #34
But in this case, it IS. It's an ad campaign. Like Nike's 'Just do it'. AtheistCrusader Mar 2015 #37
No, it's not an ad. It's a message of how to be a good human being and has a link at the end. NYC_SKP Mar 2015 #38
I don't need advice on how to be a 'good human being' from homophobes. AtheistCrusader Mar 2015 #39
Oddly enough on their website they think it is a "sermon". Warren Stupidity Mar 2015 #47
I immediately look to the authors of any content I examine. AtheistCrusader Mar 2015 #35
If there are wormholes and deer poop to be found Starboard Tack Mar 2015 #23
yes homophobic bullshit is such a trivial matter. Warren Stupidity Mar 2015 #48
Good, because I doubt that the video in the OP will cause any damage Starboard Tack Mar 2015 #58
stopped clock d_r Mar 2015 #6
Bingo! missingthebigdog Mar 2015 #52
You couldn't just enjoy the video, could you Warren? Starboard Tack Mar 2015 #24
yeah that homophobia stuff is so 2012, just get over it, right? Warren Stupidity Mar 2015 #31
Sure I watched it. Starboard Tack Mar 2015 #32
Yeah, let's find common ground with the homophobic bigots and work together. Act_of_Reparation Mar 2015 #44
Do you think Kennedy was a homophobic bigot? Starboard Tack Mar 2015 #50
Most likely. Act_of_Reparation Mar 2015 #73
You brought JFK into the conversation Starboard Tack Mar 2015 #81
"bigotry toward believers" AtheistCrusader Mar 2015 #86
I was talking about my bigotry toward believers Starboard Tack Mar 2015 #93
Actually, no. AtheistCrusader Mar 2015 #94
The point is shame works. Act_of_Reparation Mar 2015 #90
My experience is much the same. AtheistCrusader Mar 2015 #92
Where the hammer meets the nail. Act_of_Reparation Mar 2015 #96
Just FYI d_r Mar 2015 #61
Jeez, Warren--it's not aimed at you. Jackpine Radical Mar 2015 #78
"It's aimed at intolerant fundies" - oh bullshit. Warren Stupidity Mar 2015 #80
It is *FROM* intolerant fundies. AtheistCrusader Mar 2015 #91
Had to go and make me cry, didn't you. cbayer Mar 2015 #2
It is an explicitly religious message from a hate mongering bigot-church. nt. Warren Stupidity Mar 2015 #3
It's the simplest of lessons, yet missed by most while the counter-attitude is encouraged. NYC_SKP Mar 2015 #5
Ads like this can be powerful tools in encouraging empathy. cbayer Mar 2015 #9
The "ad like that" is promoting adherence to bigotry. Warren Stupidity Mar 2015 #11
That's a strong accusation. Can you say exactly what part of the video promotes bigotry? NYC_SKP Mar 2015 #14
the link to their gay hating church at the end. Warren Stupidity Mar 2015 #19
So, the video does NOT have explicit religious messaging or homophic whatever your complaint is. NYC_SKP Mar 2015 #20
The video is an advertisement for a church. AtheistCrusader Mar 2015 #26
Hatred and misery and anger begets hatred and misery and anger.... NYC_SKP Mar 2015 #12
Love wins out, but it can be battered along the way. cbayer Mar 2015 #15
I just watched "Unbroken" last night. I can highly recommend it. NYC_SKP Mar 2015 #16
We are currently limited to Mexican Netflix, which doesn't have Unbroken cbayer Mar 2015 #17
Hey, I'll post a link that might work, not Netflix. NYC_SKP Mar 2015 #21
Got it, thanks. cbayer Mar 2015 #22
First you accused the Charlie Hebdo cartoonists of being homophobic bigots and AtheistCrusader Mar 2015 #25
So I assume edhopper Mar 2015 #27
Oh, I think you need to watch the video. NYC_SKP Mar 2015 #28
That would kind of go against the whole message, but if you want to make them negative cbayer Mar 2015 #29
No it wouldn't. Warren Stupidity Mar 2015 #49
beautiful message no matter the source guillaumeb Mar 2015 #30
Thank you. And it's not an ad, it simply provides a credit at the end. NYC_SKP Mar 2015 #33
It's an ad campaign called "Get Service" AtheistCrusader Mar 2015 #36
It's an awesome life lesson that should be shown in every public school every year. NYC_SKP Mar 2015 #40
I would rather the school district asked Oderus Urungus to read my kid 'Goodnight Moon'. AtheistCrusader Mar 2015 #41
So you think public schools should force children to watch religious sermons. Warren Stupidity Mar 2015 #51
I might remake the video without the credits at the end, but YES, I think they should. NYC_SKP Mar 2015 #54
the "truth" of their message is that empathy requires god. Warren Stupidity Mar 2015 #46
I watched it again guillaumeb Mar 2015 #74
I tend to expect hateful inspiration from hateful people. AtheistCrusader Mar 2015 #75
I am not a member of the sponsoring church guillaumeb Mar 2015 #77
It's not hard to click on and read their 'about' page. It's shared with the larger organization to AtheistCrusader Mar 2015 #83
I understand guillaumeb Mar 2015 #95
Like it. gtar100 Mar 2015 #42
The "Elders" of this homophobic evangelical right wing church Warren Stupidity Mar 2015 #43
Hey Skip edhopper Mar 2015 #45
Second that. cbayer Mar 2015 #53
Thanks! NYC_SKP Mar 2015 #68
Rightwing homophobic propaganda aside... Dr Hobbitstein Mar 2015 #55
Did you watch the video? What did you see that was rightwing homophobic propaganda? cbayer Mar 2015 #56
The church that made it. Dr Hobbitstein Mar 2015 #57
The video had not a hint of bigotry in it. cbayer Mar 2015 #59
I don't watch anything produced by Dr Hobbitstein Mar 2015 #60
"Take your homophobic support elsewhere, sir." cbayer Mar 2015 #62
But you're supporting a church who DOES express homophobia. Dr Hobbitstein Mar 2015 #66
I'm not supporting a church at all. cbayer Mar 2015 #70
I see we are at an impass, sir. Dr Hobbitstein Mar 2015 #71
No worries. Nice talking to you. cbayer Mar 2015 #72
If you watched the video, you should know precisely where it comes from, because it says. AtheistCrusader Mar 2015 #76
There's a deep, deep, bleeding vein of irony in a 'church' producing a 'tolerance and empathy' video AtheistCrusader Mar 2015 #67
They can explain that. Warren Stupidity Mar 2015 #89
I wish I had a pair of those glasses to wear as I read some of the replies to my OP. NYC_SKP Mar 2015 #63
It's ok. I know what I am and I know what you are. cbayer Mar 2015 #64
You realize that video is monetized, right? There's advertising attached to it. The chuch that AtheistCrusader Mar 2015 #69
I'll bet that not one in ten thousand people who view the video bother to go to the link. NYC_SKP Mar 2015 #79
Your 'bet' is meaningless to me. AtheistCrusader Mar 2015 #84
Well, if many more or all people went to the link then they would find the truth. NYC_SKP Mar 2015 #87
"And if they are not bigots, then they will be repelled by it." AtheistCrusader Mar 2015 #88
They don't care, AC. beam me up scottie Mar 2015 #82
I expect critical analysis and contemplation of the issue. AtheistCrusader Mar 2015 #85
The "By" line. AtheistCrusader Mar 2015 #65
