8. Stage 3 Conspiracism

Stage 1: Convince yourself there was a conspiracy.

Stage 2: While "sifting through the evidence" looking for confirmation, convince yourself that all of the evidence supporting the "official story" is actually proof of a conspiracy; otherwise, why would anyone have faked all that evidence? And convince yourself that your failure to find any credible evidence supporting your own extraordinary speculation is just proof of how effective the cover-up was. At this stage, multiple conspiracy theories which all have those same evidence-avoiding characteristics begin melding together, which is also taken as confirmation.

Stage 3: Convince yourself that your extraordinary speculation is so obvious you don't really need any evidence-based reasoning to support it, so anyone still "spouting their endless blather" about the "official story" is either stupid or has an ulterior motive.

Stage 4: Loss of contact with reality, having deliberately scorned the tools and methods that rational people use for sorting things out, and replaced them with a paranoid imagination that can make conspiracies just as big as they need to be. Stage 4 ain't pretty, CJ.
