4. I use Eneloop plus a device that recharges alkaline batteries

Took a flyer on the latter and it actually works, as long as you don't expect like-new performance. It is called MaximalPower, or something like that. Does a good job except on one of the major brands. Maybe Energizer. I don't remember. It won't restore one of them but otherwise works fine and is kind of fun.

I have had several generations of Eneloop. All were very good except the one with light and dark colored blue batteries. Stay away from that generation. The whites work great, and especially the type with the charging unit that charges each battery separately as opposed to blocks of two.
