I know - the airport in Oslo Gardermoen is rather fresh - and airly - with wood floors and oak too - it is a very nice airport - and have been rebuild the las couple of years - it is planned to be finished by 2017 if everything goes as planned - and will continue to make Oslo Airport Gardermoen - some to behold when you arrive there.. And I would say - I like it, the airport - is rather comfortable to use for the most part... One of the reasons it is used a lot of local woods and oaks - and stones - is because it was deiced the airport should be a getaway into Norway - it should represent the whole of Norway - and it should be shown in the use of how the building was made possible.. Therefore the use of woods floors and its like - because Norway do have a few acres of woods (In fact 50 percent of Norway is either rock or woods, or a combination of the two) and it was one of the most challenging undertaking when it was build in Norway - not at the scale made here in Gardermoen was it ever been tried to build so much in wood and stone alone... And i worked rather well.. Even if it was a challenge

I know what you mean - it is an interesting trip from Domestic - to the International - as it is in each end of the airport - and specially the hwy one gates is right at the tip of the airport It must have been a interesting walk/run for you being able to do it in just 45 min - specially as you have to go true the domestic - then in again into the international area - and then run as you have the devil on your back all the way down to the hwy gates.... I hope you had a comfortable seat to EWR...

Asian Airport tends to be rather nice compared to the rest of the world - but sometimes even here in Europe we manage to build airport who is comfortable - and Gardermoen was build to grow and the airport can be made bigger than it is today - as the time goes I guess... In fact - the airport started out as a training area for the Royal Guards - Garden - as the name show it - and it was even build a airstrip there right before World War Two - under most of the war it was occupied by the german Luftwaffe - who build it up to be a relative modern airport - at least at the time of the end of world war two - it was reclaimed by the army/air force - and a civilian site was build on site - even if it took some time to get any airport on the ground - as most of the buildings was either used by the army/air force - or was destroyed at the end of the war... But by 1948, when SAS was flying off the ground - even a modern airport was build at the site of the current airport - mostly as a airport who could be used if Fornebu (the then main airport for Oslo) was closed for any reason - but as time was going - the use of Gardermoen also started to change - and in the end more and more traffic was going true Gardermoen - specially as Fornebu was reaching its limits as it was build on a rather smallish iceland on the edge of Oslo (our capital) in the late 1980s - it was deiced that a new airport was needed - as Fornebu was clearly reaching its limits for flying to and from Oslo - and it was not longer possible to extend the runways anymore - the cost would be astronomical.. Even as the debate had been around for 40 or so years - and many places was seen as a possible place for the new main airport into Norway - it was in the end Gardermoen who was best suited for the new airport (even as some claim it was decided by a "junta" of the labor movement and party) And in the mid 1990 - the airport was closed - and then rep opened in november 1998 - as the brand new airport - and Fornebu closed as the main airport into Oslo... And the new Airport have some decent train connection - all the way down to Drammen - and from oslo to Gardermoen it will take you just 20 minutes - from downtown Oslo to the aiport...

Food is important to experience - even if some of the worlds food is rather challenging to eat to put it mildly - but it is interesting to se what type of food exist in different parts of the world.... As you might experienced with your whale meat - even if you was thinking twice about it....

That is good your ex wife and you still are on good terms - that in itself is something to keep in mind - that you still are good friends - Maybe you one day will take here with you to Trondheim - or to Norway - it is worth the trip - even if it is costly
